"they who carry the weight of the world."
A tribute to women. They are the pillars that support many communities and families; they are strong, fighters, and have their own voice.
"Women, the pillar of the most colourful bridge in Spain."
"Women, the pillar of the most colourful bridge in Spain."
Inspired by the Greek temple of Erechtheion (whose columns of sculpted female figures, called caryatids, support an entablature on their heads), JAY KAES redefines that classical idea, erasing its negative connotations of slavery and giving justice to the meaning it deserves: the bridge's columns represent the figure of women as pillars. Strong and diverse women, as expressed by the multidisciplinary style of each face. Additionally, like mother nature, they are the creators of life and the most authentic expression of beauty on Earth.
The bridge's ceiling is a poetic nod that reflects the reality in which we live: the earthly nature transforms into pixels that enter a new digitized reality. Not in vain, for some time now, the excess of available information has crossed the limits of reality and has given way to a 'meta-reality,' which increases even more the heavy burden that women continue to bear. They are the ones who balance the world thanks to the foundations on which they stand: love, respect, strength, empathy, friendship, humility, passion, and culture.
